That’s according to Valve designer Lawrence Yang and engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais, who spoke with Rock Paper Shotgun on the 1-year anniversary of the Steam Deck’s launch. And it looks like that’s likely to continue to be the case for several years: Valve has no plans to release a next-gen Steam Deck with higher-performance hardware for at least a few more years. But all Steam Decks sold to date have the same basic specs, despite some variations in storage speed and capacity. It’s technically a handheld computer with many of the same components you’d find in a laptop. Valve’s Steam Deck is a handheld gaming device that blurs the lines between PC and console. This allows companies to sell the same hardware for a longer time, while game developers can design their titles to meet specific hardware capabilities throughout the life of that console. But Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo game consoles tend to get upgrades every five years or so. Gaming PCs tend to get more powerful every year, with new desktop and laptop systems arriving annually with the latest chips from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA. ![]() How long will my Fire Tablet get security updates?.How to use an SD card with Amazon’s Fire tablets. How to disable the Continue & Discover row on the home screen. How to sideload apps on Amazon Fire tablets. How to disable Amazon apps and features. How to install Google Play on the Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020).How to install Google Play on the Amazon Fire 7 (2022) with Fire OS 8.How to install Google Play on Amazon Fire tablets.Hack your Amazon Fire tablet with Fire Toolbox. We’re excited about the delivering this proven capability to Draken,” said Heather Robertson, vice president and general manager, Integrated Solutions for Collins Aerospace.Steam Deck hardware upgrades will likely be on a console-like timeline rather than PC-like - Liliputing Close Search for: Search “JSAS enables the warfighter to train and improve joint tactics, techniques and procedures in a secure environment against a peer adversary threat, unlike anything that has been seen in the past. Our continued investment in this area, together with our extensive operational experience, allows us to adapt and optimise our training efforts to reflect the ever changing threat environment that our customers face in reality,” said Paul Armstrong, CEO Draken Europe. “We are incredibly excited to receive these highly advanced next generation systems to enhance our training capabilities and improve interoperability with our military customers. Collins Aerospace has 4,500 direct employees in the UK across 20 locations, including engineering, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain operations. The agreement goes beyond system provision and includes a commitment to seek opportunities to demonstrate the technology more widely with our coalition partners and to use it as a platform for introducing virtual and constructive training effects to benefit UK Defence. The system will be upgraded in time with a variant of the next generation Tactical Combat Training System – Increment II (TCTS II) pods enabling fully encrypted interoperability with all coalition platforms across legacy P5 and future P6 Air Combat Manoeuvring Instrumentation (ACMI) waveforms. This interoperability is made possible by the Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS) architecture that ensures that classified data is protected while it is shared across platforms with the same security levels. As part of Draken’s current operational readiness training contract with the MOD, JSAS pods will enable near real time combat training information to be viewed at the aircraft base, and be ready for de-brief immediately after landing. ![]() With the first systems delivered to Draken Europe’s headquarters, these pods based on CRIIS (Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System), already extensively used by the USAF and USN for training and analysis, will be cleared for flight on the Falcon 20 fleet, with first trials by the end of 2021. ![]()
